I recently graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from ISU and currently teach in Peoria. I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to teach swim lessons at Five Points. I’ve been fortunate to work with an endless amount of terrific children and families. I swam competitively since the age of six for several local swim teams. I was an assistant coach for the Water Warriors and Metamora Area Swim Team. I’ve volunteered for HISRA’s Special Olympic Swim Team, I’ve taught at several facilities where I have worked with all ages and all skill levels! I have a lot of incredible experience working with children with special needs and view swimming as an essential skill to have for all learners. I am still just as much a student as I am a teacher in the water. I am constantly learning new ways to help others feel safe in the pool.

There’s nothing more satisfying than teaching a child a set of skills that they will have for the rest of their lives. I believe learning to swim is both a survival skill and a good way to get exercise. When you know how to swim, you can safely enjoy water activities. I was an educator for 8 years in a special education setting until I chose to be a stay at home mom. I decided to become a swimming instructor because I love water and I enjoy working with children. I grew up in Maldives surrounded by the ocean, so being in the water has always been a big part of my life. I am open to working with all ages/ability levels and special needs children. I believe that having confidence is important and I love to remind all of my students that they are able to accomplish anything they set their minds to. If given the opportunity, I would love to help your child learn to swim!
